Systems-based Practice is one of the six core competencies assessed as part of the ABMS Program for Maintenance of Certification (ABMS MOC®). Physicians must demonstrate an awareness of, and responsibility to, population health and systems of health care as well as an ability to use system resources responsibly in providing patient care.
Nearly one in five Medicare patients is readmitted within a month, which the government considers a prime symptom of an overly expensive and uncoordinated system. It is clear that CMS, and intuitively other payers of health care, are aggressively looking at every opportunity to improve efficiencies and reduce waste in all transactions of care across the health care continuum. To provide participants and understanding of, and tools needed to work successfully with, the rules for Medicare’s Hospital Readmission Reduction Program, ABQAURP presents an intensive one day event to address this tumultuous time in health care.
