The Faculty Affairs Collection, sponsored by the Subcommittee on Professional Development of the Group on Faculty Affairs (GFA), aims to provide a living compendium of current, innovative peer-reviewed methods for advancing faculty affairs. The Collection will address issues such as the recruitment, appointment, management, promotion, and governance of faculty members, as well as related professional development programming in such areas as career advancement and new faculty orientation and onboarding programs. In addition, the Collection will provide unique, complementary materials to the existing faculty development resources available in MedEdPORTAL, which target the development of faculty members’ knowledge and skills in areas such as teaching, educational scholarship, and leadership development.
The objectives of the Faculty Affairs Collection are:
- To provide faculty affairs deans, staff, and other institutional leaders with tangible, practice-based, peer-reviewed resources for improving practice in faculty affairs.
- To provide the opportunity for faculty affairs deans, staff, and other institutional leaders to disseminate best practices in faculty affairs through publishing resources developed, implemented, and refined at one or more institutions that can be adopted or adapted for use at other institutions.

Inclusion in the Faculty Affairs Collection
After a submission is accepted and published, inclusion in the Collection is determined by members of a core committee with diverse representation from the AAMC Groups on Faculty Affairs, Diversity and Inclusion, Women in Medicine and Science, Regional Medical Centers, and the Council on Faculty and Academic Societies.
